Fire Island Pines Party 2021

The Pines Party is one of the highlights of the American Gay Circuit Calendar and takes place at the end of July each year at the legendary Fire Island Pines. This year sees ThePack Underwear & Partywear on board with their bold prints and head turning harnesses, briefs, swimwear & jockstraps!

There’s a rager that goes till 6am, then another one that picks up a half hour later. Dance until dawn, all while enjoying the sensation of sand between your toes.

The party is a charitable event that’s the pinnacle of every season, raising money for the community and the Stonewall Community Foundation that helps LGBT organizations grow. The morning party progressed to the beach with an army of volunteers building a daytime dance floor on the sand that accommodated 3,000 revelers.

Over the years the party has grown and changed and become the Pines Party. Each year the theme changes (this year's theme is "Return To Wonderland"), but the spirit and energy remain the same. Highlights of the event include the Beach Party which sells out and takes place at The Beach 577 Coast Guard Walk, the Pool party at The Pines Club, one of Fire Island Pines’ most glamorous bayfront homes, the After-party at Bayfront Home.

Finally make a date with the Morning Party at the Pavilion! Watch the first light of the sun rise over the Atlantic and head to the Pavilion and keep dancing til noon. Not for faint of heart, the Morning Party is a Pines tradition not to be missed.

Getting to & Getting around Fire Island

Fire Island is a place where time has stood still to a certain extent because there are no cars and because you still have a small town ambiance where you walk or ride a bicycle and you see people and you stop on the corner and you talk to each other.

Ocean Beach is the island’s most populous village and is home to its biggest downtown, making it the unofficial capital of Fire Island that’s also among the area’s most popular destinations for visitors. About four miles east of Ocean Beach are these two LGBT-centric communities neighboring one another, locally known as The Pines and The Grove, which together form a gay mecca of sorts.

While both communities only have boardwalks as sidewalks, The Grove (more Lesbian Friendly) is only about a ½-mile- long while The Pines stretches nearly a full mile. The Pines (Gay Guys) is also home to the majority of the private pools on the island.

Besides its hopping nightlife at Cherry’s, The Ice Palace and elsewhere, The Grove is home to one of only two oceanfront restaurants on Fire Island—The Sandcastle at The Ocean. Revelers in The Pines bounce between Sip ‘N Twirl, the Blue Whale and the Pavilion.
